Does Your School Offer the Musical Education Your Child Wants?
Music programs are being reduced or completely cut across America. While some schools still offer some music programs, they may not be able to provide the types of musical education your child is interested in.
These days everyone’s budget is under a strain, including public schools. When cuts are needed to make ends meet, it’s often cultural and artistic programs which take the hit. Even though studies show music helps students succeed in other areas of academics, it’s often one of the first programs to go. And while some schools are able to hold onto the bare basics of music programs, such as traditional marching band instruments, your child’s passion may not lay in this area, especially if they have dreams of singing or playing in a band.
While letting our schools know how we feel about this is important, often that’s not enough to get these valuable programs spared. So what can you do? Should you just let your child go on with their education, void of musical instruction? Definitely not. There’s simply no reason that our children should have to want for musical education, not when it is so easy to get singing lessons at home or in home guitar lessons!
